Honors College’s Happiness and Well-Being Learning Collaborative to host philanthropy master class
The Honors College’s Happiness and Well-Being Learning Collaborative will host a philanthropy master class from 1 to 7:30 p.m. April 8 in Honors College and Residences North. The event is intended to introduce participants to the professional work of philanthropy, support professional development for professionals already working in the nonprofit sector, and discuss and discovery philanthropy's impact on communities and society.
The keynote address will be presented by Bob Reid, founder and CEO of Edge Philanthropy. Together with Reid, scholars and researchers in the areas of philanthropy and community well-being will focus on emerging generational influences, professional practice and leadership in the field of philanthropy. Topics will include the unique organizational systems of the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors, participatory and deliberative practices for philanthropic foundations and associations, the need for increased improvements in the areas of diversity equity and inclusion, and the need for caring and empathy in a new era.
Master class instructors are researchers and practitioners in the field of philanthropy, nonprofit fundraising and the associated field of community development. They have worked with philanthropic foundations as members of national, regional and state philanthropic support organizations or government funders with mission aligned interests.
The event is free and open to the public. More information on the master class, registration and the Happiness and Well-Being Learning Collaborative are available online.
