Purdue for Life holiday auction to feature memorabilia, autographed items, lifelong learning course gift certificates, and more

The Purdue for Life Foundation will kick off its second annual virtual Holiday Silent Auction at 9 a.m. ET Friday (Nov. 26). Bidding will close at 7 p.m. ET Dec. 5.

The auction is an opportunity to stock up on one-of-a-kind gifts, including exclusive Purdue memorabilia, autographed items, special experiences, gift cards and gift certificates to lifelong learning courses offered through Purdue Online.

Auction proceeds support the Purdue Scholarship Fund, a general fund that benefits undergraduate students attending Purdue at the West Lafayette campus.

In addition to their availability in the auction, individuals also can purchase the online lifelong learning courses, for themselves or as a gift, directly from the course registration websites. The courses include:

  • Wine appreciation, a virtual tour of the world’s wines led by Purdue’s wine professor, a true wine scientist.
  • American Supernatural, an examination of the past, present and potential future of the UFO experience in American culture.
  • Living with a Purpose and Thriving, a systematic look at how you can be the best version of yourself to lead a more organized, productive and happier life.
  • Engaging Others in Controversial Science, a blueprint featuring research-based techniques to better communicate scientific topics.
  • American Sign Language 1 and 2, an opportunity to learn to communicate with, and become certified in, American Sign Language, and even to hold conversations with ASL users.
  • Data Storytelling, a framework for making memorable, teachable arguments by turning the massive amounts of data now at our fingertips into captivating narratives.
  • Hemp Essentials, a trip through the history and legalities of hemp production, how to grow and harvest the hemp plant and, more.
