Opportunities to support Purdue Fire Department’s 'Shop with a Firefighter' event

As in past years, the Purdue University Fire Department is hosting a "Shop with a Firefighter" event leading up to the holiday season. The fire department partners with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Lafayette, a United Way agency, for the annual event. Children and families join a firefighter and shop at a local store to pick out clothes, toys and other items they may need or want to help make the holidays a little brighter.

In order to help support this year’s shopping event, the fire department is hosting a fundraising event on Tuesday (Nov. 2) at Nine Irish Brothers in West Lafayette. A portion of the proceeds raised between noon and 9 p.m. will be donated to the cause.

Firefighters are also accepting monetary donations to help support the shopping event. All donations can be sent to the following address by Dec. 8:
