New leadership for undergraduate academic advising named

Jenna Rickus, vice provost for teaching and learning, has announced that Jeff Elliott is joining Purdue as the executive director of University Undergraduate Academic Advising. Elliott’s new role is effective immediately.

Elliott comes to Purdue after 10 years as associate director of arts and sciences advising in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He takes on the role formerly held by Sandy Monroe, who retired in July.

Elliott will report to Heather Servaty-Seib, associate vice provost for teaching and learning, and will collaborate with approximately 200 professional academic advisors and with 120-plus faculty advisors on the Purdue West Lafayette campus. He also will serve as a supplementary supervisor to the head advisors in each college. His office provides centralized leadership, training, communication and coordination to all academic advisors to ensure quality, holistic, personalized advising services to the diverse population of undergraduate students.

Before his position at the University of Tennessee, Elliott led advising and tutoring services at Columbia State Community College. He received a BA from Murray State University and his MA and PhD from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
