Honors College's Happiness and Well-Being Learning Collaborative to host philanthropy master class
The Honors College's Happiness and Well-Being Learning Collaborative will host a New Generation Philanthropy Master Class on Dec. 3 to introduce participants to the professional work of philanthropy and philanthropy's effects on the common good to better community and society.
The keynote address will presented by Bob Reid, founder and CEO of Edge Philanthropy. Together with Reid, the master class instructors will focus on emerging generational influences, professional practice and leadership in the field of philanthropy. Master class topics will include the unique organizational systems of the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors, applied ethics, participatory and deliberative practices for philanthropic foundations and associations, the need for increased improvements in the areas of diversity equity and inclusion, and the need for caring and empathy in a new era.
The master class instructors are researchers and practitioners in the field of philanthropy, nonprofit fundraising and the associated field of community development. They have worked with philanthropic foundations as members of national, regional and state philanthropic support organizations or government funders with mission aligned interests.
The free master class, which is open to faculty, staff, students and those in the community interested in philanthropy, will be held 1 to 8 p.m. in various rooms at the Honors College and Residences.
