Old Masters program selects 2021 returning alumni

The 2021 Old Masters program will celebrate 71 years of enriching traditions, uniting generations and empowering Boilermakers on Nov. 7-9. This year’s Old Masters program will be held in-person, but a virtual option will be offered for the feature event, Late Night With The Old Masters.

Old Masters is one of Purdue’s long traditions, dating back to 1950, with the primary goal of inviting back distinguished Purdue alumni and awarding them the title of “Old Master.” An Old Master is an exceptional person who has made significant contributions to their field of study and to society.

The Old Masters will engage with the Purdue community through an array of innovative, interactive platforms. These interactive platforms include the Old Masters Podcast, personal host calls, classroom talks, organization meetings, and large-scale events in which the Old Masters share about their career advice and success.

The 2021 Old Masters are:

  • Kathy Calvin, BS 1971, Speech Pathology and Audiology.
  • Kassandra Agee Chandler, BS 1980, Accounting.
  • Gebisa Ejeta, MS 1978; PhD 1978, Plant Breeding and Genetics.
  • Scott Hutton, BA 1995, Health and Kinesiology.
  • Amy Hess, BS 1989, Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering.
  • Tommy Lebamoff, BS 1989, Industrial Engineering.
  • Emily Maddox Liggett, BS 1977, Chemical Engineering.
  • Michelle Ludwig, BS 2000, Pharmaceutical Science.
  • Michael Moses, BS 1989, Physics; MS 1995, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering.
  • Elaine Sorg, BS 1989, Pharmacy.

“We are honored to be celebrating 71 years of Old Masters with this year's program. Amid a year and a half of uncharted challenges, this organization has continued to push forward and adapt to our circumstances. We are thrilled to be welcoming this absolutely remarkable class of Old Masters back to campus” said Elliott Schmittenberg and Savannah Bordner, directing co-chairs.

Many of the 2021 Old Masters events are free and open to Purdue students and the general community. More information can be found on the Old Masters’ Instagram account (@purdueoldmasters), on their website, or by emailing oldmasters@purdue.edu.

The Old Masters program is also encouraging nominations of deserving candidates for the 2022 Old Masters. This process can be completed online.
