Golden Taps ceremony honors 13 Purdue students

This year’s Golden Taps ceremony has been recorded by the Hall of Music and honors the lives of 13 students who died during the past two academic years.

Golden Taps, a collaboration of the Office of the Dean of Students, University Residences and the Purdue Student Union Board, has been a tradition on campus since 1994. Additional groups with involvement in the ceremony are Purdue Memorial Union, Purdue Musical Organizations, Black Cultural Center, Purdue Bands & Orchestras, Gimlet Leadership Honorary, Purdue Student Government, Purdue Graduate Student Government and Reamer Club.

The campus community can view this year’s ceremony online.

The 13 students honored this year are:

* Rachael Ballard, a junior in the College of Health and Human Sciences from Rockdale, Indiana.

* Trevor Col, a senior in the College of Engineering from Austin, Texas.

* Katie Cruz, a junior in the College of Agriculture from Carlsbad, California.

* Melissa Esh, a graduate student in the College of Education from Lafayette, Indiana.

* Sean Fox, a junior in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute from Plainfield, Indiana.

* Christopher Guzman, a freshman in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute from Indianapolis.

* Austin Nixon, a junior in the College of Engineering from Danville, California.

* Abby Pierce, a freshman in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute from Frankfort, Indiana.

* John Ribeiro, a graduate student in the College of Engineering from West Lafayette.

* Kyle Runkle, a senior in the College of Engineering from Chesapeake, Virginia.

* Devon Siewin, a freshman in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute from Valparaiso, Indiana.

* Anirudh Vasudevan, a senior in the College of Engineering from Singapore.

* Yu-cheng Yang, a junior in the Krannert School of Management from Taiwan.
