Registration open for Purdue Alumni Association leadership courses
The Purdue Alumni Association in partnership with Greater Lafayette Commerce and Evergreen Leadership is launching two new professional development courses – the Emerging Leaders and Leading Others. The courses are open to any Purdue staff, regardless of alumni status.
Both courses will help participants develop leadership skills and provide a cross-sector learning environment with a process for goal-setting and accountability.
The Emerging Leader Circle is designed for young professionals who have less than five years of work experience. This course introduces participants to various leadership concepts and theories and is centered on self-discovery of strengths, behaviors, and individual styles of leadership. Participant outcomes include increased self-awareness, understanding of leadership principles, and understanding and application of leadership behaviors in a work environment. The course meets monthly September through February at Dauch Alumni Center.
The Leading Others Circle is designed for mid-career professions with at least 10 years of work experience who want to learn more about how to lead and supervise others. This course revisits leadership styles in light of leading others, and focuses on team communications, delegation, coaching, motivation and conflict management. The course meets monthly September through April at Dauch Alumni Center.
More information about registration and about the courses, including schedules and cost, is available online. Registration for both courses is due Aug. 30.
