Launch process for new online courses and programs initiated; staff on board to assist
Purdue Online has initiated a new Online Program Launch Process for both credit and noncredit offerings with two new staff members ready to assist faculty and campus units in exploring ideas for new online programs and launching them into the world.
The first step in the process is completing a brief notice of intent form. Once that step is complete, the Online Program Launch Team will contact the submitter to begin the exploration step of the process. All of the Online Program Launch Process steps are outlined on the launch process website.
The Online Program Launch Team will guide faculty and campus units through the process from exploration, approvals both internal and external, the implementation phase, and continuous support once courses or programs are launched. The online launch team will assist with this process and schedule necessary meetings throughout.
Two new staff members are working with Chris Martin, senior director of Purdue Online, in advancing new online programs. Athena Kennedy, online program launch director, and Lindsay Roberts, associate online program launch director, can help with each step of the launch process. They started at Purdue Online in April.
Kennedy will work with new online programs from Agriculture, Engineering, Science, the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine and the Graduate School.
Roberts will assist Education, Health and Human Sciences, Liberal Arts and Management.
Kennedy earned a doctorate in higher education administration with an online education administration focus and she previously led instructional design and program development efforts in credit and noncredit offerings at Arizona State University Online. She has served as program manager, online instructor, project director, instructional technologist, researcher, and student services professional in higher education for nearly two decades at colleges and universities including the University of Wyoming, California State University San Bernardino-Palm Desert Campus, Colorado State University Online-Fort Collins and Laramie County Community College.
Roberts earned a master’s in leadership and returns to Purdue after serving four years as director of the Center for the Advancement of Learning at the University of Evansville, with oversight and development of accelerated and hybrid graduate and undergraduate programs. She simultaneously focused on the recruitment and marketing efforts for both credit and professional development programming. Previously she served as the assistant director of the weekend MBA program in the Krannert School of Management and as the associate director of distance learning at Purdue.
