PACADA honors two academic advisors for outstanding work
The Purdue Academic Advising Association recently honored two academic advisors for their effective interpersonal skills and dedication to their students.
Outstanding Academic Advisor: Holly Englert, Mechanical Engineering
Englert was chosen for this award because of her excellence in advising, strong leadership skills and positive attitude toward all aspects of her position. She excels at communication, including presentations and emails with faculty, her nominators said.
“Holly is a master in thinking about how to support students and then taking those ideas to real life,” one nominator said. “This can be anything from a worksheet or talking points for meetings, always keeping student success at the forefront.”
A student letter described how Englert helped her get the classes needed, recommended academic resources and help rooms, and was always available to discuss the plan of study. The student felt that Englert’s proactive work with advisees shows her care about her students’ success and goals.
Englert is involved with PACADA and NACADA, the national association, and has participated in previous conferences.
Outstanding New Professional: Jacqueline Boudreaux, Animal Sciences
Boudreaux was chosen for this award because her No. 1 goal is to help students be successful, and she takes the time to ensure they are on the right track and take advantage of opportunities presented to them. Her open door policy highlights her welcoming manner and professionalism, her nominators said.
Boudreaux’s nominators conveyed how she has a true passion for student success and goes beyond the call of duty each day to make sure students are satisfied with their academic needs, which is evident by hearing about the positive experiences students have had with her.
In addition to her advising duties, Boudreaux has attended multiple local and national conferences, is a common attendee at numerous professional development programs, supports students by attending their events and is an advisor for a student organization in the department.
