Butler Center’s 'Did You Know?' series continues this spring with panel on Residential Academic Initiatives

The Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence is continuing its "Did You Know? Information About Resources on Campus" series this semester. The first panel will focus on Residential Academic Initiatives on Jan. 25.

The goal of this series is to share information about campus resources and enable a broader discussion of scholarship that addresses bias, inclusion and retention among all constituencies on campus. The series is intended to facilitate the success of faculty, staff and students, which in turn can contribute to the leadership pipeline.

Residential Academic Initiatives was formed within Residential Life to add to the Learning Community program and support faculty in their efforts to pair a co-curricular experience with academic engagement. This panel will discuss two initiatives, the Amelia Earhart Faculty-in-Residence program and the Data Mine community, as well as highlight other ways faculty mentorship and co-curricular programs can be supported by RAI.

The panelists are Carl Krieger, director of residential education; Mark Ward, professor of statistics, associate director of the Actuarial Science Program, and undergraduate chair in the Department of Statistics; Jonathan Manz, associate director of Residential Academic Initiatives; and Sorin Matei, professor of communication and associate dean for research and graduate education in the College of Liberal Arts.

The panel is set for noon-1:30 p.m. in Dauch Alumni Center, Prusiecki Banquet Room. Registration is available here. Faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend. The event also will serve as the center's welcome back reception.
