Purdue hosting many summer camps, conferences and activities
From athletics and computers to science and engineering, units across Purdue's West Lafayette campus are hosting camps and conferences on a variety of topics this summer.
According to Melanie Red Elk, associate director of Purdue Conferences, Conferences is helping to plan more than 60 events that will bring an estimated 20,000 people to campus. Some of the major events of the summer will be the National FFA Organization, celebrating its 89th State Convention; the Gifted Education Resource Institute for children; and the inaugural Grandparents University.
“The summer season hasn’t technically started, but we are full force here at Purdue Conferences,” Red Elk says. "We are working with a very wide range of clientele ranging from students, to religious groups, to sports camps, and international conferences.
"We are especially happy to be welcoming the National Law Enforcement Explorers Conference to our campus this year. This event will bring over 1,500 young people to West Lafayette in July and was only made possible through a campus-wide collaboration showcasing the best Purdue has to offer.”
