Purdue GIS Day Conference set for Nov. 9

The 2017 Purdue Geographic Information System (GIS) Day Conference, hosted by Purdue Libraries, is set for Nov. 9 in Stewart Center, rooms 206 and 214. The event is free and open to the public.

The conference, which will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will include a variety of events, including a keynote presentation at 10 a.m. titled “Spatiotemporal Computing for Enabling Scientific Research and Engineering Development.” The presenter, Chaowei (Phil) Yang, is a professor of geography and geoinformation science at George Mason University and is a Purdue Honors College visiting scholar.

The conference also includes career discussions, a GIS Career Luncheon, student lightning talk presentations and a poster competition. The Esri Development Center  Student of the Year Award at Purdue, which will recognize one Purdue student who demonstrates advanced GIS knowledge and innovation with an emphasis on development and programming, also will be awarded during the conference.
