Trustees approve 2026-27 housing and dining rates
INDIANAPOLIS — Recognizing the continued strong demand for affordable, on-campus housing, the Purdue University Board of Trustees on Friday (Oct. 10) approved housing and dining rates for the 2026-27 academic year.
Trustees approved a tiered increase in housing rates, with 89% of beds increasing by less than $50 per month. The new rates allow for continued reinvestment in student support, enhanced facilities and common spaces, residence hall wireless internet upgrades, and sustainable increases in future housing capacity.
Meanwhile, meal plans will continue to focus on affordability, simplicity and flexibility. With an annual price ranging from $1,814-$6,072 (a 3% increase of $54-$178), 2026-27 rates will continue to remain below the Big Ten average for comparable plans, and students can select a plan that fits their needs and budget.
Purdue’s room and board rates will remain the most affordable by a significant margin among Big Ten universities in 2026-27 as compared to 2012, when its rates were the second-most expensive in the conference. With Purdue’s predominant rate increasing substantially less than that of Big Ten peers over the last decade, Purdue students have saved over $550 million relative to the conference.
New housing capacity at the West Lafayette location includes 3rd & West (984 beds), which opened this fall, and South Hall (896 beds), scheduled to open in fall 2026.
Housing rates and meal plans will be communicated directly to students via various communication channels, as those details align with their future residency in University Residences.
