Trustees approve resolution to acquire West Lafayette housing complex, new on-site clinic contract at Purdue Northwest

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. —

Purdue Trustees on Friday (June 10) approved a resolution to request assistance from Purdue Research Foundation for the purchase of Aspire, a housing property in the Discovery Park District at Purdue.

Under the approved agreement, PRF will acquire Aspire from Balfour Beatty-Walsh Housing LLC, which put the property on the market in April with the goal of closing the transaction in August. In the coming months, the university will execute the acquisition of Aspire from PRF. University ownership will require state approval.

Aspire is a three-building, four-story, 387,000-square-foot housing complex that includes 831 beds in one-bedroom, two-bedroom and four-bedroom apartments, primarily serving Purdue students.

Adding university housing is consistent with the Purdue Moves strategies of on-campus living benefiting student achievement and overall student affordability. Purdue administrators were charged by the board at its April meeting to find solutions for the increased need of university housing given strong student demand and rising undergraduate enrollment.

Trustees also approved a three-year contract with One to One Health as the operator of an on-site clinic available to employees and students at Purdue Northwest, effective July 1. A clinic feasibility project determined that having an on-site clinic would be both beneficial to the PNW population as well as create savings, over time, for the university’s medical plan. Since 2017, One to One Health has been the operator of the Center for Healthy Living on the West Lafayette campus.
