Immigration service is the most important service that ISS offers to both the non-immigrant population and to the Purdue community at large. ISS is the expert resource for the University in the areas of F-1, J-1, H-1B, TN, O and PR rules and regulations. ISS is the University liaison with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS formerly INS), the Department of State (DOS), the Department of Labor (DOL), and the Indianapolis Workforce Development Alien Certification Unit.
With more than 6,000 international students, faculty and staff on our campus in a calendar year, an accurate and thorough understanding of immigration rules and regulations is essential to meet the needs of this community. ISS attempts to the greatest extent possible to ensure that our non-immigrant constituency maintains legal, lawful status while at Purdue University. By doing so our students, researchers, faculty and staff from abroad are able to qualify for the maximum number of benefits from CIS and DOS.
