Purdue partners with Franciscan Health for non-emergency imaging services

In its ongoing efforts to provide the best quality and cost of care to employees, Purdue has partnered with Franciscan Health for lower-cost, non-emergency imaging services. Franciscan offers 13 convenient imaging locations in Central, Western and Northwest Indiana, is accredited with the American College of Radiology (ACR) and actively participates in Image Wisely and Image Gently.

When your provider issues an imaging order, you are able to request Franciscan Health for the location of services. Not only will the overall costs be lower, but Franciscan is part of the HealthSync network so you will take advantage of the lower deductible and out-of-pocket expense, all which are a part of the University’s smarter approach to healthcare.

Purdue is excited to add Franciscan Health to the lineup. As a reminder, employees also are able to have low-cost X-rays done on campus at Purdue University Student Health Services (PUSH).

Dependent Social Security numbers required for medical coverage, dependent Rx Savings accounts

  • Health plan: The Affordable Care Act (aka Health Care Reform) requires employers to send dependent social security numbers (SSN) for those covered on a Purdue health plan to the IRS, along with the dependent’s medical plan election. Please take a moment to review your dependent’s information in Benefitfocus to ensure their SSN information has been entered and is valid. If your dependent does not have an SSN to enter, you may disregard this message.

Begin at one.purdue.edu, select the “Benefits Enrollment – Active Benefitfocus (Faculty/Staff)” tile. Log in to Benefitfocus with your Purdue Career Account and BoilerKey. Once logged into Benefitfocus, click the gold button “To Enroll, Make a Change, and View Your Benefits CLICK HERE” on the top right side. In the menu on the left, click “Dependents.” Under “Actions,” click “Edit” next to your dependent’s name. Review the SSN for that dependent for accuracy or select “Edit” next to your dependent'. If you need to make a change, click “Show and Edit” just beneath the number to enter a new number, then click the black “Save” box at the bottom of the page. If no change is needed, click “Cancel” at the bottom of the page. Please be sure to do this for any dependents (spouse and children) whom you cover at any time in 2020.
  • Rx Savings Solutions: Spouses and adult dependents must have an SSN in the Benefitfocus system in order to active their own Rx Savings Solutions’ accounts.

Add the dependent’s SSN, then click the black “Save” box at the bottom of the page. Once the SSN has been added, your spouse or adult dependent will be able to activate their account. Rx Savings Solutions will do the rest.

Boilermaker 5K and half-marathon

As of now, plans are in the works for the annual Boilermaker Half-Marathon and 5K to take place on campus on October 17. Human Resources is once again offering discounted registration fees for both the 5K and the Half-Marathon. The registration link and discount codes will be shared soon. Additionally, the Healthy Boiler Program is a 2020 event sponsor to encourage participation and remind employees that the Boilermaker Half-Marathon and 5K support multiple pillars of the program – physical health, behavioral health and social wellness.

With the ongoing presence of COVID-19 and planning via Protect Purdue for the faculty and students to return for in-person fall classes, event decisions are being made in conjunction with those plans.  As more details become available, we will share information via Purdue Today, email and online.

Review, update beneficiary information to ensure funds are appropriately distributed

It’s important to take a look at your beneficiary information at least once a year to make sure you have your beneficiaries lined up in order to appropriately distribute your funds based on your wishes after your passing. With that in mind, Employees are asked to take a moment to log into the Benefitfocus tool and review your beneficiary information. Benefitfocus is the official record of Purdue life insurance beneficiaries.

As a reminder, life insurance beneficiary records are now set to the plan default for employees who did not designate a beneficiary by the end of open enrollment last fall.

To help guide you through the process, the “Beneficiary Management” web page has outlined each of the benefit programs that provide for beneficiaries in the event of your death and instructions on how to make updates if needed. For more information on the beneficiary update process, contact the plan vendor at the respective numbers listed on the web page.

Take advantage of the additional ‘Health Screening Benefit’ from MetLife

As part of your Critical Illness Insurance, you can qualify for a “Health Screening Benefit” from MetLife.

MetLife will provide an annual benefit of $50 per calendar year for taking one of the eligible screening/prevention measures. MetLife will pay only one health screening benefit per covered person per calendar year. For example, annual physical exam, mammogram, colonoscopy, pap test, prostate exam, hemoglobin A1C, blood panel, etc.

Note: If you are participating in the 2020 Healthy Boiler Wellness Incentive Program and have already had your annual physical and biometrics screening completed, you have also already had a qualifying screening/prevention measure taken. If not, you can plan to earn the Healthy Boiler incentive (complete your annual physical and biometrics screening by December 31, 2020) and the Critical Illness Insurance Health Screening Benefit in 2020.

See page 21 in the MetLIfe Critical Illness certificate booklet for a complete list of eligible screening/prevention measures.

For instruction on how to submit a claim, see the “MetLife Critical Illness claim process” handout. To file a claim, visit www.mybenefits.metlife.com or call 866-626-3705.
