myStrength program added to mental health resources for all Purdue employees, dependents

Next month is National Mental Health Month, and in recognition of that, Human Resources – Benefits is introducing a new, no-cost, emotional health and well-being program brought to you by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Purdue’s medical plan administrator. myStrength, referred to as a digital “health club for the mind,” is an online mental health tool that is available to all employees and dependents, regardless of whether or not you are on a Purdue medical plan. The program’s tools and resources are available to help you and your dependents manage things that can affect our mental health such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Chronic pain
  • Depression
  • Problems with sleep
  • Stress
  • Substance abuse

“Mental and behavioral health is of utmost importance as we continue to bring resources to our Purdue community that impact overall health and wellness,” said Candace Shaffer, director of benefits in Human Resources. “Following open enrollment last fall, survey feedback reflected a want and need for additional mental health resources for employees. We heard the ask and are proud to be able to add myStrength to the list of resources available. Now, the Purdue community has convenient, cost-effective access to employee assistance counseling, LiveHealth Online Psychology, LiveHealth Online Psychiatry and myStrength for mental health needs."
