Dr. Ying Li
Department:  Horticulture & Landscape Architecture

Ying grew up in Guilin, China and then went to Beijing for her undergraduate degree at Tsinghua. In 2005, Ying came to U.S. and got her PhD degree in University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. She then lived in the heart of Manhattan for five years working as a Postdoc at New York University. In 2016, she moved back to the Midwest, and started her own lab at Purdue, West Lafayette.

Area of expertise: Functional genomics; Epigenomics; Histone modification; Environmental responses; Systems Biology; Plant Genetics

Tanvir was born and brought up in Punjab, India. He completed his Bachelor's in Agriculture (Honors) from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana (India) and now he's pursuing Master's at Purdue University in Dr. Li's lab.

Kayla is from Battle Creek, Michigan and is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in Plant Genetics, Breeding, and Biotechnology. She studies petunias and their transcriptional regulators for volatile organic compound metabolism.

MarySara studies root foraging for nitrogen and epigenetic regulators.

Holly and Baimei

Baimei and Holly were born in Clinton, Illinois in 2008. They traveled with Ying to New York City and lived in the Greenwich village for five years. They moved back to the midwest in 2016 and have been happy ever since.
