Lori Hoagland and colleagues Daniel-Leon Salas (Purdue Polytechnic), Tali Zohar and Jozsef Kadar (Arava Institute for Environmental Studies) received funding from the BARD US-Israel Binational Agricultural Research and Development Fund to host a workshop this coming October in Israel titled ‘Food Security and the Nexus to Water-Energy in the Face of Climate Change’. The workshop will provide a platform where interdisciplinary researchers and policymakers from Israel, the U.S. and other countries can exchange their knowledge and experience regarding food security and its connection to the water-energy-food nexus. Specific aims include raising awareness on the importance of this subject in times of climate crisis and social instability, facilitating discussion on how agriculture can be adapted to enhance resilience against the effects of climate change, and building teams to try and address these challenges, thereby promoting food security and peace.
