Jean Zavala, Ariana Torres, and Stephen Meyers, in collaboration with Purdue’s Departments of Entomology and Agronomy, have released an extension publication on Pest Management of Hemp. This study covers pest issues and management practices of hemp in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Oregon, and Wisconsin.


Dr. Krishna Nemali’s lab is collaborating with many home growers in Indianapolis, Lafayette, and Gary to provide hands-on experience with growing leafy greens using hydroponics in their homes. Ashley Adair and northeast Indiana ANR Educators hosted the NE IN Organic Field Day at Northeast Purdue Ag Center. The event attracted 32 participants and featured equipment demonstrations, knowledge-building for beginner organic grain growers, an update on disease management in organic grain, and an introduction to Purdue organic field research funded by OREI.



Indiana is one of the major watermelon and cantaloupe producing states. Variety selection based on yield, disease resistance, fruit quality is one of the critical decisions in production.
