Southwest Purdue Agriculture Center Hosted Melon Trial Open House

Indiana is one of the major watermelon and cantaloupe producing states. Variety selection based on yield, disease resistance, fruit quality is one of the critical decisions in production. Southwest Purdue Agricultural Center conducts watermelon and melon variety trials every year. We have 73 varieties in the trials this year. The trial results will be summarized and presented to melon growers later in the year. On July 26, we conducted a variety trial open-house. Groups from five seed companies visited the trials.
