Karagory selected to AACN fellowship, leadership program

Pamela Karagory, interim head of the School of Nursing, was selected to attend the American Association of Colleges in Nursing’s 2018 Leadership for Academic Nursing Program (LANP), an intensive five-day summer seminar.
The program comes with a yearlong fellowship that provides participants with a focused assessment experience, a range of content and exercises related to successful executive leadership, and the opportunity to establish a peer network that fosters long-term partnerships and collegial support.
Karagory was among 49 nursing faculty selected to the cohort from across the nation after a competitive review process. LANP is designed for those who have experience in academic administration and aspire to more senior administrative positions within the nursing academic unit.
Karagory’s career has spanned three decades of comprehensive health care leadership experience. She has led health care organizations in executive roles that include chief nursing officer, executive vice president and chief operating officer. Karagory has earned a master’s degree in nursing, business administration, and in 2016 earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Systems Leadership from Rush University. She served as the director of continuing education and assistant head of undergraduate programs at the Purdue School of Nursing before being appointed the interim head of the school in July.
A member of the National League of Nursing, Indiana League of Nursing, Indiana State Nurses Association, and Alliance for Continuing Education in Healthcare Professions, Karagory has received the 2016 Excellence in Teaching Award from the School of Nursing, the 2015 Purdue University Exceptional Early Career Award, and was honored as a 2018 Purdue University Teaching for Tomorrow Senior Fellow.
