Known as one of the largest interdisciplinary programs in the country and high impact educational programs in Purdue University, recent awards and recognitions showcase our success.

The Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation has been a pioneer in the cross-campus entrepreneurship education movement. It was conceived prior to the Kauffman Campus Initiative, and it was one of the fully, cross-campus initiatives able to scale without external support. Some awards include:

TOP 50 UNDERGRADUATE ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM

The Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program was recently named a Top 50 Entrepreneurship Undergraduate Program by Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine. More than 300 schools with offerings in entrepreneurship submitted applications. The named schools are viewed as outstanding choices for students aspiring to become entrepreneurs.
“The popularity of entrepreneurship has increased exponentially…,” said Jason Feifer, editor in chief of Entrepreneur magazine. “As more future leaders seek out paths to realizing their ambitions, this ranking is a valuable asset they can use in the discovery and exploration process.”

MODEL EDUCATION PROGRAM

The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) awarded the Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program the prestigious 2020 Model Entrepreneurship Education Program Award.
USASBE is an inclusive community advancing entrepreneurship education through bold teaching, scholarship, and practice that recognizes those that move entrepreneurship education forward.
“Purdue’s entrepreneurship program universally impressed the judges with their student-centered, data-informed, hands-on approach to entrepreneurship education.” said Eric Liguori. “Purdue demonstrated a comprehensive, well-executed program that is bold, boundary-spanning, and inclusive.”

EXCELLENCE ACROSS DISCIPLINES

In 2018, the Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program was recognized by the Global Consortium for Entrepreneurship Centers (GCEC) as one of the top 5 centers providing Exceptional Activities in Entrepreneurship Across Disciplines.
The GCEC is a premier academic organization addressing the emerging topics of importance to the nation’s university-based centers for entrepreneurship. It has become the vehicle by which the top, established entrepreneurship centers, as well as emerging centers, can work together to share best practices, develop programs and initiatives and collaborate and assist each other in advancing, strengthening and celebrating the role of universities in teaching the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

CURRICULUM INNOVATION

In 2017, the Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program received the Excellence in Curriculum Innovation in Entrepreneurship Award at the Deshpande Symposium Awards by demonstrating exemplary commitment to, and success in, developing and offering innovative educational courses and / or programs that foster entrepreneurship education across the institution.
The Deshpande Symposium on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Higher Education brings together academics, policy planners and practitioners to discuss best practices in integrating entrepreneurship throughout their college and university communities.
