RE:      2022-23 Annual Staff Performance Management, Merit and Promotion Processes

As the 2022-2023 performance management and merit process continues, employees and managers should review and update goal progress through March 1.

The annual performance evaluation records an employee’s fulfillment of key goals and universitywide competencies. Each staff member will complete their performance self-assessment by March 15, and supervisors will evaluate the performance of their direct reports from March 16 to April 7.

Visit the performance management website to view the complete timeline, along with helpful resources for supervisors and employees.

As many of our colleagues continue to work a remote or hybrid schedule, supervisors must communicate regularly to celebrate successes, encourage performance improvement and understand the specific development needs of each staff member. This is the time to engage staff in a discussion to optimize job performance and heighten job satisfaction. The annual performance evaluation conversation is an ideal time for supervisors to review remote work guidelines.

Your HR business partner will provide regular performance management updates to help your unit attain a 100 percent annual review completion rate. Your annual evaluation reports for 2022-23 can be accessed via SuccessFactors' Quick Action tile, View Tile Reports.

Those directly involved in the merit process (such as individuals assigned as compensation managers, directors of financial affairs or financial managers) will receive additional communications regarding the training resources available and the performance and merit timeline. The official merit increase policy will be distributed along with budget materials in April. No material policy changes are planned for the July 1, 2023 merit cycle; the guidelines, process and overall timeline will remain largely unchanged from prior merit cycles.

Please also note that promotion review templates for July 1 promotions must be submitted to Human Resources by March 31. Review Staff Promotion Guidelines for more information on promotion criteria.

Thank you for your continued support of Purdue’s performance management, merit and promotion processes.
