I invite you to attend our departmental seminar - an exciting joint venture between the Microbiology and EEB (Ecology and Evolutionary Biology) research groups - this Wednesday, Oct 24 at 4PM in MJIS 1001.
Our speaker is Dr. Nels Elde from the University of Utah, who will deliver a talk entitled:
"Evolutionary Innovations from Biological Collisions".
Nels was named a Pew Scholar in the Biomedical Sciences, Burroughs Wellcome Fund Investigator, and Kavli Foundation Fellow. Research in the Elde lab has been highlighted in the New York Times, The Atlantic, Wired Magazine, and The Smithsonian.? Here’s a National Geographic article about his work http://phenomena.nationalgeographic.com/2014/12/11/the-long-war-against-the-iron-pirates/?
Nels gives fantastic talks. I'm confident you will find his cutting edge work using experimental evolution to understand infectious diseases and host immunity insightful.
