Programs Overview

The Center for Analytical Instrument Development promotes and supports the fabrication of new mass spectrometers, as seen with our portable "Mini" systems. Novel ion sources and their implementation have been a corner stone of the center since its inception, as seen with our DESI imaging. Cutting-edge research in instrumentation and their analytical applications is the focus of the center. While research and development are vital to the center's mission, the education of the next generation scientist and engineer is also paramount to the success of the center. CAID provides courses and our annual workshops targeted to educating undergraduates, graduates, and professionals alike.
