Collaboration Express Transforming Indiana into a Magnet for High-Technology Jobs and Talent

Career Placement

Locating Available Jobs

The Center for Career Opportunities (CCO) offers students advice on researching companies and networking.  Once you’ve narrowed your job search, Purdue myCCO is the place to go to apply for jobs. You can also investigate job options by attending one of the many on-campus or virtual job fairs hosted by Purdue. In addition, jobs in the life sciences, agri-sciences, information technology and other high-tech arenas can be found just northwest of Purdue’s main campus at the Purdue Research Park, which is home to hundreds of technology-based companies. The park’s career board lists entry level positions and opportunities for the seasoned professional.

Preparing to Interview

Through your Purdue myCCO account, you can participate in live, online resume, interview and job coaching as well as practice interviewing using InterviewStream. CCO also offers a series of tutorials and workshops on resumes, cover letters, interview preparation and networking (in person and through LinkedIN).

Interviewing

Employers from around the country visit Purdue to recruit its students and alumni for full-time positions. Your Purdue myCCO account will allow you to learn about upcoming employer interview dates and information sessions, submit your resume to job postings, create job search agents; apply for jobs; and schedule on-campus interviews. You also can visit the CCO events page for a listing of on-campus career fairs (general, business, healthcare, and industrial) and virtual job fairs, the latter of which you can attend via computer.

Salary Negotiation

Once you’ve received a job offer, CCO gives timely advice on the salary negotiation process and offers tools for landing the best compensation package. The office compiles and shares salary information obtained from new Purdue grads, and also partners with the National Association of Colleges and Employers to determine accurate compensation through a sophisticated salary calculator that analyzes education, employment history and other factors.
