Trevor Peters
Director, Issues and Reputation Management and University Spokesperson
Trevor Peters’ work is focused on one question: Who is the right person to tell Purdue’s story — and how do we get it in front of the right audience? As assistant director of issues and reputation management and deputy spokesperson at Purdue University, he plays a central role in shaping how the university shows up in local, state and national media.
Trevor leads media strategy and serves as a key point of contact for issues management, working closely with university leadership, emergency operations teams and campus partners to ensure messaging is timely, accurate and aligned. His background as a television news anchor and reporter gives him a deep understanding of how journalists think, helping him build trusted relationships and position Purdue’s most important stories effectively.
His work has contributed to record-setting earned media performance, with continued year-over-year growth in placements. He led media strategy for the two largest single-day earned media moments in Purdue history: the Total Solar Eclipse Viewing Event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the announcement of the university’s joint effort to locate Amelia Earhart’s plane. He also helps drive proactive storytelling initiatives that connect Purdue experts and ideas with broader audiences, including hosting the “Purdue News Now” weekly video update.
A third-generation Boilermaker, Trevor earned his bachelor’s degree from Purdue’s Brian Lamb School of Communication and an MBA from Purdue Global. Outside of his role, he serves as the in-game host for Purdue football, mentors students and stays actively involved in the campus community. He and his wife, Natalie, have a daughter and enjoy traveling, cheering on Purdue basketball and staying active in their church.
