Student Outreach

The Purdue community is committed to changing how we work and live. We strongly believe that universities must not only carry out research, but also translate the findings of that research into action. Student engagement programs are focused on using our campus facilities to nurture ideas from young adults and help them apply into the real world.

DURI Program

  • Since the beginning of the project in the Solar Decathlon competition, Purdue students have been actively involved with undergraduate and graduate research allowing them to experience hands-on sustainable engineering. An example of that is the DURI program.
  • The Discovery Park Undergraduate Research Internship (DURI) program is designed to involve Purdue undergraduates in the interdisciplinary research environment of Discovery Park. The program provides opportunities for students to work with faculty affiliated with Discovery Park on cutting edge research projects that involve combining two or more disciplinary strengths. Working closely with faculty, students experience the excitement, challenge, and power of truly interdisciplinary research in the fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment that is Purdue's Discovery Park.

Summer Camps

  • The Research Team also encourages high school kids into technology and engineering. During the summers of 2015 and 2016 the Purdue Polytechnic Institute and the Applied Energy Laboratory hosted many summer camps to explain the Biowall and introduce concepts of green energy to students.
  1. 4H Renewable Energy Camp (Renewable Energy Camp - June 09-10, 2016)
  2. TOTAL – Turned Onto Technology and Leadership (Technology and Leadership Camp – June 11–15, 2016)
  3. TEAM – Technology Expanding All Minds (Technology Camp – June 26-30, 2016)
  4. TAGS – Technology Advances Girls Scouts (Technology Camp – July 18-21, 2016)
