Retirement reception to honor Chief John Cox on July 27

A retirement reception in honor of Chief John Cox will be held July 27 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the Anniversary Drawing Room at the Purdue Memorial Union. Formal remarks will begin at 2:15 p.m.

Chief Cox is retiring on July 31 after serving the Purdue University Police Department since 2000. He started as a patrol officer, then worked his way through the ranks as sergeant, lieutenant, captain and chief. Throughout his time with the University, has been instrumental in keeping the campus community safe while also advancing the mission of the department as he led the efforts to receive accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

The reception is open to anyone who would like to wish Chief Cox well in his retirement.
