Be sure to restart machines regularly for updates to occur

ITaP is asking Administrative Operations staff to restart their machines on a weekly basis for software updates to automatically install.

Staff who are remotely accessing their Purdue computer from a home computer do not need to visit campus to restart their work machine.

In addition to restarting machines, staff can also check for and manually initiate pending software updates by following the instructions:

  • Select the magnifying glass next to the Start menu
  • Search for Software Center and press Enter
  • Review the Updates tab
  • Select available updates from the list, then click the Install icon
  • If no items are found, no further action is required
