The 2012-2013 First-Year Mentors

A BIG THANKS to this year’s First-Year Mentors! The PULSe First-Year Mentoring Program is designed to provide assistance to incoming PULSe students. New students are matched with a more experienced PULSe student to ensure that each first-year has a personal contact who is available to answer questions and provide help adjusting to life as a graduate student.

The 2012-2013 Science in Schools Officers and Participants

CHEERS to this year’s Science in Schools Officers and Volunteers! The PULSe Science in Schools (SiS) initiative seeks to get school-age students excited about scientific discovery.  PULSe students who volunteer with SiS visit local schools throughout the academic year to lead hands-on, science-based lessons. The SiS program has been a benefit to all involved: the school-age students are able to fully appreciate scientific discovery in a hands-on setting, while the PULSe students are able to have scientific interactions outside their curriculum, thereby giving them an opportunity to better understand the learning process and how to communicate scientific ideas to a younger crowd.
