Faculty Recruitment and Retention
New Faculty Orientation
The new faculty orientation program, hosted by the Office of the Provost, is held annually in August. This full day program includes an information fair and website of resources for new faculty. For those unable to attend in the fall, a spring breakfast is held.
The Teaching Academy at Purdue University also offers a variety of resources for new faculty. Visit the Teaching Academy website to learn more.
Faculty Retention Fund
The goal of the Faculty Retention Fund is to enable deans and department heads to meet the competitive needs of Purdue’s most highly valued and at-risk faculty members. Funds may be requested from the Office of the Provost for preemptive salary enhancements, counter-offers or salary equity adjustments when retention is of concern.
Merit Salary Review for Faculty
On an annual basis, Purdue University provides guidance regarding the award of merit increases and one-time special merit pay for faculty, administrative-professional staff and clerical and service staff. Heads should consult with their Dean and Director of Financial Affairs for college-specific templates and procedures for merit salary review.
