Changes announced to Healthy Boiler Wellness Program time frame for 2020, 2021

In an effort to help employees make the most out of the Healthy Boiler Wellness Program, Human Resources has announced that the 2020 program will extend through Dec. 31, providing individuals additional time to earn their incentive.

Researchers at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Purdue University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison have isolated human monoclonal antibodies that potentially can prevent a rare but devastating polio-like illness in children linked to a respiratory viral infection.

Plane spraying pesticide on field

Math formula could give machines more precise control over droplets

Drones and other aircraft effectively spray pesticides over miles of crops, but the method also can pollute the environment if wind carries the mist off-target. One of the problems is that tiny droplets are hard for aerial crop sprayers, inkjet printers and a wide range of other machines to control. Purdue engineers are the first to come up with the math formula that was missing to measure a key property of these droplets.

As wearing facial coverings and masks becomes the new normal during the COVID-19 pandemic, learning how to communicate effectively while wearing them can be a challenge. That’s especially true for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, says Shannon Van Hyfte, a clinical associate professor of audiology and director of the M.D. Steer Audiology Clinic. Van Hyfte offers these tips to make communicating easier.

Purdue enters partnership to provide COVID-19 point-of-care test kit

Purdue University, Raytheon BBN Technologies, PortaScience Inc., Cortex Design Inc., and LaDuca LLC have announced a partnership to produce and manufacture a COVID-19 point-of-care test. The test will be submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for approval.
