Summer 2018 Cooking Demonstrations

All of our scheduled cooking demonstrations cost $10, take place in the Demonstration Kitchen, and are open to Purdue Affiliates only. Sign up at the Member Services desk, fill out the online registration form, or by calling 765.494.3109.

The Demonstration Kitchen strives to make cooking accessible to everyone, by demonstrating delicious recipes and menus that are quick, easy and affordable. We provide a variety of demonstrations and programs in order to accommodate varying interests, ages, and abilities. Our Student Cooking Instructors will provide you with nutrition information, culinary techniques, and food sanitation guidelines. You will also have the opportunity to sample the dishes prepared during the demonstration you attend. Recipes cards are provided.

SUPER SALADS
Tuesday, June 12 6-7pm
What comes to mind when you think of a typical salad? Gain the courage and skills to break the salad stereotype at this cooking demonstration by creating salads without the lettuce! Recipes include a Tabbouleh Salad, Asian Salad, and Roasted Vegetable Salad. 

COOKING WITH QUINOA
Wednesday, June 27 6-7pm
Quinoa is a gluten-free grain, rich in protein, iron and fiber. This class will demonstrate a variety of creative recipes, designed to help you incorporate this "super-food" into your cooking routine. Recipes include Sweet Quinoa Breakfast Casserole, Peanut Better and Nutella, Quinoa Bites, and a Quinoa Protein Bowl. 

VEGETARIAN MEALS
Thursday, July 12 6-7pm
This class will discuss the health benefits of eating vegetarian meals, provide non-meat protein sources and recipes for appealing vegetatian meals. Learn how to make Vegetable Quiche, While Bean Dip, and Spinach and Sun-dried Tomato Calzones. 

SUPERFOODS
Wednesday, July 25 6-7pm
Super Foods are nutrient-rich foods that are considered to be particulary good for your health and well-being. This demonstration will show you how to make recipes using a variety of super foods, such as Baked Parmesan Kale Chips, PB&J Smoothie, Thai Peanut Slaw, and Blueberry Scones.  

Crockpot Complete Meals for Four

All of our crockpot cooking classes cost $20, take place in the Demonstration Kitchen, and are open to Purdue Affiliates only. Sign up at the Member Services desk, fill out the online registration form, or by calling 765.494.3109.

Who wants to be cooped up in a hot kitchen after a long and busy week? Let our Cooking Instructors solve the problem of “what’s for dinner?” by helping you with your Friday night dinner plans. We take care of the menu planning and shopping, you get to help with prep and leave with a yummy meal for four! All this for just $20- that’s only $5 per serving! Perfect for a big group, a family, or leftovers for the weekend. Recipes are made in a crockpot, so remember to bring yours from home! No crockpot? No worries! Bring along a container to take your meal with you and cook at home when ready!
