Division of Financial Aid (DFA) updates

The 2024-2025 FAFSA release was delayed due to changes implemented as a result of the FAFSA Simplification Act. This delay has created changes in other dates along the way. Below we have created a timeline to help you understand the flow of the financial aid application process for the 2024-2025 aid year.

The 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now open. Follow the steps below:

  • The student and a parent must each create a Federal Student Aid Account (FSA-ID) Username & Password to electronically sign the FAFSA
  • Submit a FAFSA no later than our April 15 priority filing date using Purdue West Lafayette school code 001825
  • DFA begins to receive student FAFSA data from the Federal processor
  • Submit both a FAFSA and any departmental scholarship applications by February 15 to maximize opportunities for scholarships with a financial need component
