Freshmen and sophomores in high school can pursue their interest in engineering through a Purdue weekend event.

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day will offer a daylong event beginning at 9 a.m. Feb. 24 showcasing the variety of engineering disciplines Purdue has to offer. In addition, families may join for a concurrent session held by Imagination, Innovation, Discovery, and Design, an after-school academic year program through Purdue's Women in Engineering Program.

The event is free and pre-registration is necessary. Freshmen and sophomore participants will be guided by current engineering students and faculty. Those participating in the concurrent I2D2 event must remain under parental supervision.

In addition, families will have the chance to participate in an hourlong activity-- once at 11 a.m. and repeated at noon. Students from Women in Engineering will help with the activity.

This annual event works to introduce young students in the community to engineering through hands-on activities brought to schools by Purdue engineering students. The event is sponsored by the Purdue Women in Engineering Program.
