Coming Wednesday: Conference to focus on the theme of belonging

The Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging will host the 2022 Maximizing Student Potential conference from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 23). The conference will be presented virtually, and registration is free and open to all faculty, staff and students throughout the Purdue system.

Howell Li

Invention addresses the problems of running a red light at traffic intersections

An invention from Purdue and the Indiana Department of Transportation that uses wireless communication devices could save lives at high-speed traffic signals. Principal research analyst Howell Li (above) and transportation research engineer Jijo Mathew of the Joint Transportation Research Program in Lyles School of Civil Engineering have collaborated with Tom Platte at the Indiana Department of Transportation to create technology that improves safety as vehicles approach a signalized intersection.

Program grows diversity, puts business education in reach of all students

Krannert's Cornell A. Bell Business Opportunity Program was established in 1968 to increase diversity and provide underrepresented students with access to a world-class management education. The program enrolled 11 students in its first year and was one of the first student-success programs to promote inclusion within a major business school and the first diversity program at Purdue.

Purdue geochemistry professor named 2022 Sloan Fellow

Purdue geochemist Marissa Tremblay's innovative research involving noble gases, which are elements that exhibit high stability and very low reactivity, has garnered attention throughout the scientific community. Now, Tremblay, assistant professor in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences, has been named a 2022 Sloan Research Fellow.
