Purdue selected to join new national initiative to
improve experiences for first-gen students

Purdue has been selected to participate in the inaugural First Forward cohort, a national initiative designed to improve experiences for first-generation college students. The First Forward designation recognizes higher education institutions with a proven commitment to advancing first-generation student outcomes.

Graduates take center stage in Elliott Hall during Purdue commencement ceremonies

Purdue University on Friday (May 10) began its annual rite of spring: a series of six commencement ceremonies throughout the weekend. More than 4,600 undergraduates were expected to walk the West Lafayette campus’ Elliott Hall of Music stage by Sunday afternoon.

Purdue bringing
innovators to Indiana for agBOT Challenge

The College of Agriculture is partnering with Gerrish Farms to host the agBOT Challenge 2019, a three-day event May 16-18. The event includes the NextGen Expo, an interactive STEM event, and the agBot competition, an international showcase and competition of agtech unmanned machine innovations. The agBot Challenge, part of Purdue’s Ideas Festival, poses the question: What IF high-speed broadband reached everyone?

Advances in driverless aircraft could direct the future of drones, flight

Billions of dollars are being spent by aviation giants and aerospace startups to create driverless flying vehicles that can meet the growing need for rapid and flexible travel and delivery. One of the solutions currently being worked on is the autonomous aerial vehicle with vertical takeoff and landing ability. A new method from Purdue could help with takeoff and landing for autonomous taxis and cargo carriers.
