More H1N1 (swine) flu: CDC removes travel restriction to MexicoSince early May, Purdue has advised faculty and staff to cancel "non-essential" travel to Mexico in response to the H1N1 (swine) flu outbreak, in accordance with the recommendation of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Now the CDC's travel health warning has been downgraded to the level of a travel health precaution, which does not advise against travel. The CDC continues to recommend that travelers visiting Mexico take steps to protect themselves from getting novel H1N1 flu. Further information can be found on the CDC's Web site. MoreGENERAL NEWSFeustel completes final spacewalk on Hubble missionAndrew Feustel, a Purdue alumnus and NASA mission specialist, made the final spacewalk Monday (May 18) on a mission to upgrade the Hubble telescope. The shuttle, which is scheduled to land Friday (May 22), released the space telescope on Tuesday (May 19) after five days of repairs and upgrades. It is the final servicing mission to the Hubble Space Telescope, an 11-day operation designed to extend and improve the orbiting observatory's capabilities for at least another five years of research.
