Paying your bill with a 529 plan

Fastest / Safest 529 Payment Options:

  1. If you’re paying for college with a 529 college savings plan, you may have your plan provider directly deposit the funds to your personal bank account. Once the funds are deposited to your personal account, you can make a payment online via our secure billing & payment system.  Student login / Authorized User login  Additional instructions on how to make payment online can be found here.
  2. Please note:  Many 529 College Savings plans now have a digital distribution option (electronic ACH) which saves time and improves transparency with real-time payment tracking. When requesting a withdrawal from your plan, check with your plan administrator to see if a digital distribution option is available.

If your 529 Plan provider cannot accommodate the options above, they can still mail a paper check.  Please make sure to include the Student’s ID Number and allow up to 3 weeks for processing (so please plan accordingly for specific due dates).  Paper checks can be sent to:

Purdue University
Office of the Bursar
128 Memorial Mall Dr, Room 194
West Lafayette, IN 47907-2040

Be sure to initiate the 529 Payment with your provider at least 14 days before the due date and send a receipt of requested funds to askbursar@purdue.edu.
