VPSL Merit Pay

Guidelines

In an effort to recognize the performance and contributions made by student employees, all units within Vice Provost for Student Life may award wage increases to those who meet the employment criteria and plan to continue their employment. Merit pay is effective the first pay period of the next fiscal year. Additionally, student employees moving laterally or promoted to new positions within their department may be eligible to retain previous merit raises at their department's discretion.

In order to qualify for any merit increase, the following conditions must be met:

  • Must be hired before March 1
  • Must meet or exceed performance standards, must fulfill shift requirements and minimum hours worked
  • Must fulfill unit specific requirements as stipulated by the supervisor
  • A performance appraisal must be completed for each qualifying position within the Student Employment Management System prior to the evaluation close date

Administration of Merit Raise

Earned merit pay will be effective the first pay period for the next fiscal year. A Merit Raise Report will be submitted to Student Life Payroll Service Center for mass processing.
