Staff, Faculty Invited To Nominate Nontraditional Undergraduate Students For Ewing Memorial Scholarship

Span Plan Nontraditional Student Services is now accepting nominations for the Ewing Memorial Scholarship, which will recognize two outstanding undergraduate nontraditional students with a $750 scholarship.

Staff and faculty are encouraged to nominate undergraduate nontraditional students who demonstrate leadership, integrity, scholarship, and inclusivity. Nominees must be returning as a degree-seeking undergraduate in either the Summer or Fall 2021 terms and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Faculty and staff may submit their recommendations for committee review by completing the nomination form no later than April 15, 2021.

Span Plan Nontraditional Student Services connects with undergraduates who have one or more of the following attributes:

  • Are married
  • Have children/are expecting
  • File the FAFSA as Independent or are age 24+
  • Have a delayed college enrollment from high school of 2+ years
  • Transferred to Purdue at age 23+

This scholarship is given in memory of Linda Hurd Ewing, who served as Assistant Dean of Women beginning in 1965. Considerate and competent, Dean Ewing was recognized by the university as a Helen B. Schleman Gold Medallion Award recipient and as a Special Boilermaker. Her legacy of strong relationships, integrity and unwavering belief in the worth of every individual continues through this scholarship today.
