Applicable University Policies and Standards
All postings must comply with the following university policies and guidelines:

All interior and exterior postings are limited to designated campus locations approved for campus partner use.
Temporary Interior Postings
- Building general-use bulletin boards
- Please note that some bulletin boards are reserved for federal and state regulatory postings only.
- Contact the Building Deputy for approved posting locations.
Permanent Interior Postings and Branding
Interior branding includes wall graphics, murals, plaques, donor displays, permanent bulletin boards, dimensional lettering and other long-term or installed materials within university facilities.
Request Process:
- Submit a space alteration request to Campus Planning and Architecture at cpa@purdue.edu.
- Upon approval from Campus Planning and Architecture, submit design mock-ups to Purdue Brand Studio for brand compliance at purduebrand@purdue.edu.
- Follow approved installation instruction, including vendor safety or other information, as instructed by Campus Planning and Architecture.
Temporary Exterior Postings on Buildings
Event banner locations available for colleges, departments, units and organizations are located between Stewart Center and the Purdue Memorial Union.
Request Process:
- Reserve the Stewart Banner location through the EMS system at least two weeks in advance of installation.
- Upon space approval, submit a work request using departmental funding for installation and removal of banner.
- Submit banner designs to Purdue Brand Studio at purduebrand@purdue.edu to review prior to production.
Temporary Exterior Postings on University Structures
- Exterior kiosks – available for event flyers and must follow all requirements as set by Posting Policy IV.B.2.
- Sidewalks – posting is limited only to (a) washable (water soluble) chalk and (b) sidewalk areas that are exposed daily to the elements. The placement of posters, notices, flyers, adhesives or other similar materials, the use of paint of any kind and the use of oil-based or aerosol (spray) chalk is prohibited. Chalking on brick pavers and all vertical surfaces is prohibited.
Other Exterior University Structures Postings
Administrative Operations (AO) is committed to preserving Purdue University’s distinct exterior architectural aesthetic. To balance this priority with the need for outdoor marketing and branding opportunities, AO has designated a limited number of approved locations for such use. Most of these areas support university‑wide campaigns and strategic initiatives. These locations include:
- Exterior Buildings throughout central and south campus
- Stewart Center and Elliott Hall of Music – these buildings are centrally located and serve as high-visibility event venues
- Street light poles along major campus thoroughfares
Exception Requests
Administrative Operations understands that there may be times where colleges, departments or other campus partners may have needs for postings that fall outside the above policies and guidelines. To facilitate those requests, please submit a request through the EMS system.
All other posting requests are to be submitted through EMS by selecting Campus Banner/Signage Request located under PMU/STEW/Outdoor/Non-Academic Space Request: https://purdue.emscloudservice.com/web/
Interior branding and permanent postings are approved by Campus Planning and Architecture.
Important Notes
- Postings on interior or exterior permanent university structures are prohibited unless approved via the instructions above.
- Unauthorized postings are subject to removal.
- Administrative Operations must approve all campus postings and displays.
