Retirement of Dale Kesler
After nearly 28 years of dedicated service, Dale Kesler, a valued member of the Grounds Department, will retire on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Dale began his Purdue career in 1998 as a grounds worker, maintaining the landscapes around several iconic campus buildings. His commitment to keeping these areas beautiful and welcoming quickly became evident. Just three years later, Dale was promoted to grounds equipment operator, better known as a mower operator.
Over the years, Dale has mowed nearly every corner of campus, from academic quads to residence hall lawns. For the past several years, he has focused on maintaining the grounds around the university residence halls, ensuring students come home each day to a well-kept and inviting campus. Colleagues often note that Dale’s cheerful singing can be heard as he works, a reflection of his upbeat personality and love for what he does.
Beyond the mowing season, Dale’s reliability and teamwork have made him an integral part of snow removal operations, especially across the south side of campus. No matter the weather or the task, Dale approaches his work with positivity, humor and an unwavering dedication to Purdue.
Dale’s many years of service, strong work ethic and friendly spirit have left a lasting impression on those who’ve had the pleasure of working alongside him. His contributions have helped keep Purdue’s campus looking its best year-round.
To celebrate Dale’s career and wish him well in retirement, a reception will be held in his honor on Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Grounds Maintenance Facility. All are welcome to stop by, share stories and congratulate Dale on a well-deserved retirement.
Please join us in thanking Dale for his nearly three decades of outstanding service and in wishing him all the best in this next chapter.
