Planning an event at the West Lafayette location this academic year? Those planning events for colleges, departments or student groups are encouraged to follow an emergency preparedness checklist.
The Special Event Emergency Preparedness Checklist is available on the Event Planning Safety Resources webpage on the Emergency Preparedness website. The checklist is a guide for event organizers to follow during the event planning process. It covers several topics, including security, weather and fire safety.
“With so many different events taking place on campus each year, having a consistent planning resource is important,” said Jefferson Howells, director of Emergency Preparedness. “This checklist was created to help organizers prepare thoroughly and prioritize safety.”
The Office of Emergency Preparedness does not need to approve the checklist for each event, but event organizers should fill it out and consider it a valuable tool.
Emergency Preparedness is part of the Administrative Operations organization. The organization supports the university by providing safe, reliable and transformative services. Providing planning resources to support safety during campus events is just one of the ways the organization helps power Purdue.
