Purdue Campus Transit service returns to West Lafayette on Aug. 24 to align with the start of the fall semester. As initially rolled out by Administrative Operations last fall, this on-campus amenity continues to be free for Purdue students, faculty and staff.
While the majority of operations remain unchanged, several updates have been made for the 2026-27 academic year.
Unchanged Operations
Campus Transit still provides several fixed routes plus on-demand options at no cost to the Purdue community. Riders can track all vehicles in real time during operating hours through the mobile app.
Fixed Routes
Three primary, fixed routes will run Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. while Purdue is in session with no reservations required.
- Ross-Ade Loop stops include Ross-Ade Stadium, Tower Drive/Hilltop Drive, Tower Drive/David Ross Road, Stadium Avenue/Russell Street, Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering, Brown Family Hall, Purdue Memorial Union, University Street/Mitch Daniels Boulevard and Armory.
- Purdue Mall Loop stops at Purdue Memorial Union, Mitch Daniels Boulevard/Russell Street, Mitch Daniels Boulevard/MacArthur Drive, northwest of McCutcheon Residence Hall along McCutcheon Drive, Hillenbrand Residence Hall, Córdova Recreational Sports Center, Ford Dining Court, Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering and Brown Family Hall.
- Discovery Park Loop locations include Niswonger Aviation Technology Building, Discovery Park lot, Lynn Hall of Veterinary Medicine, Class of 1950 Lecture Hall along Oval Drive, Mitch Daniels Boulevard/Russell Street, Mitch Daniels Boulevard/MacArthur Drive and Airport Road/District Boulevard.
Additionally, the 2550 Express loop runs 7-10 a.m. and 3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday. This shuttle picks up and drops off at 2550 Northwestern Avenue, Lilly Hall of Life Sciences and Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering.
On-demand Service
Supplemental to fixed routes, shared on-demand shuttles that serve select campus locations are available Monday through Friday and on Sundays. Required in-app reservations determine the route and timing of stops each day, and riders can guarantee a seat and shorten wait times by scheduling up to 30 days in advance. Same-day requests will be accommodated as seats and time allow.
From 4-9 p.m. on Sundays, all on-demand stops will be served. Most on-demand services are available from either 7 p.m.-midnight or 7 a.m.-midnight during the week, detailed in the next section.
A complete list of pick-up and drop-off locations is available on the Campus Mobility website.
“We learned a lot in our first year of service, incorporated several changes throughout the year based on feedback we received and have continued to optimize operations since the spring semester,” said Jessica Robertson, associate vice president of Auxiliary Services. “We are excited to start year two with improved campus community support, expanded services and better technology for riders and internal reporting.”
New This Year
Riders should be aware of a few service adjustments for the coming year:
- A new app with the same capabilities: Campus Transit now operates through the FlexiGo app, available in both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store using an individual’s @purdue.edu email address. The app shows fixed transit routes, offers real-time vehicle tracking, allows requests for on-demand rides and more. Vehicle tracking is expected to be more accurate, and more timely alerts and notifications will be displayed in the app if schedule or route changes occur.
- Adjusted on-demand hours: To make services more efficient, on-demand hours of operation for core campus locations have changed.
- On-demand stops that are on a fixed loop stop will operate from 7 p.m.-midnight Monday through Friday. Riders who need to access these locations between 7 a.m.-7 p.m. during the week should use fixed routes.
- Except 2550 Express, on-demand stops that are not serviced by a fixed route will be available 7 a.m.-midnight Monday through Friday. Some stops include the Surplus Store stop that was previously limited to the store’s business hours, the east Airport parking lot, Zucrow Laboratories and Bowen Laboratory.
- Expanded 2550 Express shuttle service: Following a successful pilot in the spring semester, the shuttle continues to serve 2550 Northwestern Avenue this year. It will now stop at Lilly Hall of Animal Sciences and Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering. Increased service hours of 7-10 a.m. and 3-6 p.m. are in place Monday through Friday. Individuals who need to access 2550 between 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and 6 p.m.-midnight when the express shuttle does not run should book on-demand service.
- Coordination with Friday football games: Temporary service adjustments will be made for the two Friday night home football games this season. More information will be shared soon.
CityBus Off-Campus Transit
CityBus provides transit options around Greater Lafayette using fares and a variety of passes. Access between Purdue’s campus and downtown Lafayette is provided by CityBus’ Route 41 The Connector. This year members of the Purdue community who purchase a CityBus pass are responsible for the entire cost.
