EHS welcomes Thomas Grier as new radiation safety officer
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Grier as Environmental Health and Safety’s new radiation safety officer, effective January 12, 2026.
Thomas brings meaningful experience in radiation safety, along with a strong academic foundation in health physics. He is currently completing a doctoral program in Health Physics, building on graduate training completed at Purdue, where his academic and research work have been closely connected to the campus research community. This combination of practical safety experience and active research engagement will be a valuable asset to the university.
As radiation safety officer, Thomas will oversee Purdue’s radiation safety program, ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and partner with faculty, staff and students to promote a strong culture of safety across instructional and research laboratories. This role is central to enabling safe, efficient and responsible research while maintaining Purdue’s high standards of stewardship.
