Purdue winter recess building and service access in Indianapolis
As the fall semester concludes and campus shifts into winter recess, Purdue University in Indianapolis and IU Indianapolis will adjust building access, campus operations and service availability. Students, faculty and staff who will be on or near campus during this time are encouraged to review the following changes to ensure they are prepared.
The Purdue fall 2025 term ends on Saturday, Dec. 20, with the spring 2026 term beginning Monday, Jan. 12. IU Indianapolis follows a similar schedule, with fall semester ending Sunday, Dec. 21 and spring classes beginning Monday, Jan. 12.
Throughout the winter break period, essential operations will continue, but many services will operate on reduced schedules or with limited access.
Public Safety
IUPD will continue operating 24/7 throughout winter recess. For assistance, call 317-274-7911.
Maintenance & Grounds
Staffing will be limited from Dec. 24 to Jan. 2, though the IU Indy Campus Facilities Services (CFS) call center (317-278-1900) will remain open to handle urgent maintenance needs.
Building Access
Several campus facilities will shift to restricted access:
- Sigma Theta Tau (STT): fob access only
- Student Center: fob access only
- IU academic buildings: badge access required for all buildings.
For building lockouts, contact the IU Indy CFS call center at 317-278-1900. - IU Tower Dining: Tower Dining will be closed for winter break from Dec. 22 -Jan. 9.
- IU Campus Center: Reduced hours begin Dec. 12 (7 a.m.–7 p.m., Monday–Friday; closed weekends). The building will be closed Dec. 25–Jan. 1, and normal hours resume Jan. 10.
- IU Health Center: The IU Health Center will operate under normal hours through Dec. 23. On Dec. 24, the center will close at noon and remain closed through Jan. 1. Regular operating hours will resume on Jan. 2.
- IU Library:
- Dec. 22–24: 9 a.m.–6 p.m.
- Dec. 25–Jan. 1: closed
- Jan. 2: 9 a.m.–6 p.m.
- Jan. 3–4: closed
- Jan. 5–8: 9 a.m.–6 p.m.
- Jan. 9–10: closed
- Jan. 11: normal hours resume
Environmental Health & Safety
Flooding, odors or similar issues will be managed through the CFS call center (317-278-1900). For emergencies, always call 911.
Transportation
Campus Connect shuttle:
- Last day of service: Dec. 21
- Normal operations will resume Jan. 10
Jagline Transit:
- No service Dec. 25–Jan. 1
- Normal service Jan. 2
- No service Jan. 3–4
- Normal service resumes Jan. 5
Mail Services
Mail delivery and pickup will vary by location:
- Academic Buildings & North Hall: Routes will be completed early on Dec. 22–23. No campus mail service Dec. 24–Jan. 1. Normal service resumes Jan. 2.
- STT: Intermittent service during the break.
- Student Center: No service Dec. 24–Jan. 2
- Intercampus Mail: No service Dec. 22–Jan. 2
